Jessica Phoenix said:
The Pan Am Games were so incredible. Exploring traveled extremely well, both on land and in the air. The BCAA paste is a great product! Everyone was really impressed by his performance throughout the whole competition.
We finished 12th individually and the team won silver.

Jessica Phoenix and her mount Exploring were recently named to the Canadian Eventing Team by the Canadian Eventing High Performance Committee.  The team, made up of five horse/rider combinations will travel to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in July, 2007 to represent Canada at the Pan American Games.
Phoenix spent the winter months training and competing in the United States in order to qualify for the Pan American Games this summer and the Olympic Games taking place in Beijing in summer 2008.

Phoenix says that during the extreme heat at the qualifying event, Jersey Fresh, McIntosh Pro Line’s Electro-blend helped keep Exploring hydrated and maximized his performance throughout the three-day competition.

Phoenix is at ease knowing that McIntosh Pro Line products are at work while she is competing at the Pan American Games.

McIntosh Pro Line is proud to be a co-sponsor of "The Canadian Cowgirls Drill Team".

The Canadian Cowgirls are a precision drill team based in Chatham, ON. Under the guidance of Terri Jenkins this team of talented horses and riders travel all over Canada and the US, appearing at major events.

Most recently they led the paraded that opens the Calgary Stampede in Calgary, Alberta. In Banff, Alberta they preformed under the stars at the famous Banff light show.

McIntosh Pro Line products are used to insure the on-going health of their equine performers. With a rigorous travel schedule and often performing in extreme heat. These horses need the best support possible.

Electro-Blend Paste:

Why is Electro-Blend Paste Superior to others on the market?

- Most electrolytes require water blending. This increases the risk of inhibiting and tying-up the minerals that are contained in the electrolyte mix. There is tremendous variation in water sources throughout the US & Canada, each varying in mineral make up, pH, total dissolved solids, electrical conductivity and contaminants. Electrolyte response in many situations is directly related to interactions and interrelationships between the water
and the electrolyte blended into it. The past avoids the need to blend in with water thus eliminating the affects of negative interactions. The paste also avoids the common affects of imbalanced polarity due to the chemical makeup of many water sources.

- PH also plays a major role in the successful administration and absorption of the key elements of an electrolyte that is needed for a balanced ionic exchange. Water sources that contain a higher than neutral pH makes elements such as potassium, magnesium and some micronutrients which are needed for cellular metabolism less available. The electrolyte paste provides highly available essential cellular elements crucial for proper metabolism without the potential of pre-feeding interactions as seen in conventional water blended electrolytes.

- The paste provides a uniquely "equine balanced" concentration of sodium and potassium common to the cells of a horse for the enhancement of the vital biochemical action necessary for the efficient and continuous activity of the cellular sodium/potassium pump, which helps carry nutrients into the cells and the waste products out. Many electrolytes sold for horses are simple formulated "multi specie" electrolytes that do not address the unique cellular needs of the modern equine athlete. The Paste specifically has been designed with the horse's body needs in mind. Since the sodium/potassium balance in the horses body is key to many of the horses performance and maintenance related activities, supplying a "equine balanced" level of sodium and potassium plays a crucial part in vital regulatory mechanisms.

- The proper cellular polarity balance in the horse's muscle cells is maintained by the use of the electrolyte paste. In order for muscle contractions, there must be a message received from the nerves. This is important for the optimized action of the muscles during contraction and relaxation during performance activities. The proprietary blend of micronutrients enables the muscles and nerve cells to function as genetically programmed. The transmission of messages along the length of the nerve fibers within the brain, spine and peripheral nervous system is essential for optimized muscle action and sustained performance activities. Our "horse specific" electrolyte paste blend enhances the transmission of nerve impulses under electrolyte depletion conditions that usually depresses functioning of the nervous system.

- The electrolyte paste is an equine specific balance nutritional supplement that is designed for maintaining proper polarity in the horses' cells.

- The paste does not contain the high levels of sugar commonly found in general electrolyte powders. Too much sugar or other refined carbohydrates are antagonistic to potassium, which can lead to problems associated with potassium deficiencies.

- Since many electrolytes are made for general livestock use they often contain excess sodium in comparison to what a horse needs while undergoing performance activities. An excess of sodium causes an imbalance of the sodium/potassium pump, which can result in cramps, muscle weakness, fatigue
and an irregular heartbeat.

- Excess sodium from "non horse specific" electrolytes can also cause excess sodium levels to eventually have a negative affect on the horses kidneys and liver. Once the kidneys fail to no longer protect the body from excess sodium the liver can become affected, swell and lose its ability to filter
out toxic wastes from the bloodstream.

- Often the use of non "equine balanced" electrolytes results in pancreatic disturbance which can lead to impaired access to requires nutrients needed for energy.

- The electrolyte paste contains magnesium at an "equine specific" level. Magnesium is key to proper cellular metabolic processes needed for producing
proteins. Magnesium also plays a very important role in transforming ammonia, a waste product from protein digestion, to a harmless compound that
can be excreted through the urine.

- The magnesium level in the paste is supplying at a rate, which intended to promote magnesium's synergistic partnership with ATP (adenosine triphosphate) the energy compound in metabolism. Without this relationship the horses' muscles could not perform.

- Our horse specific electrolyte also supplies magnesium levels that complement the already present magnesium levels in a horse and help re-supply magnesium depleted levels that occur during periods of environmental and performance challenges. The provided Mg levels help to keep blood at the proper degree of alkalinity while regulating the slightly acid pH of other fluids of the body, such as stomach fluids and urine.

- The paste is designed to provide the correct balance of potassium, sodium, magnesium and other micronutrients, which will result in the proper timed
release of each ion critical during high metabolic exertion.

- The paste contains proteinated minerals to benefit their bioavailability as it allows sustained ions in the proper sequence to be used by the horse
during prolonged exertions and throughout environmental metabolic challenges.

- A 1200-pound horse consists of approximately 840 pounds of water, which needs to be electrochemically balanced prior to physical exertion or
environmental challenge. The paste will help achieve balance during and after these conditions as long as water is available, clean, palatable, and
in sufficient quantities.

- The paste provides the proper nutrients that help to balance cell ionic exchange and regulation during periods of reduced feed intake.

- The paste will help improve water consumption.

- The paste does not contain sodium bicarbonate as does many general powdered electrolytes. This means that the paste will not interfere with the
horses proper gastric pH which is a critical natural barrier against infectious agents and is critical for proper digestion of commonly consumed feedstuffs.

- No mixing, no stirring and no need to dissolve in water.

- No refrigeration required and there is no inconvenience in storing mixed solutions.

- High sugar, water delivered electrolytes often encourage bacterial growth in the pails once made into solution. The paste will not have this affect.

- Convenient pre-measured single-dose capabilities. No need to measure powders or water amounts.

- Fast absorption -immediately absorbed even in sick, dehydrated horses.

- Ease of administration. Works well even when at the track, eventing or even on the trail!
